November 2010 newsletter Happy Thanksgiving! Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. Mark 5:19 The compassion of our Lord is the high standard and model we must follow in all we do in this world. We must remember we are on a mission with HIM as co-laborers with Christ. We need to have compassion in our teaching, in our giving and in our relationships each day. May the Lord renew in us His love and compassion even now. Visit Our Site   Fall Bible Conference We are thankful for the time with brother and friend, Pastor Mark Engelthaler (Garland, TX), as he came and taught our Fall Bible Conference for village leaders. He spoke on the topic, “The Pursuit of a Heart for God”, a study on the life of David, who was declared to be “a man after God’s own heart”. We had around forty leaders from the Chinanteco, Mixe, and Cuicateco regions of the mountain churches. In addition to the conferences, there were also classes for these brethren with our staff in the subjects of pastoral practice, guitar, song leading and sermon preparation. The brethren traveled long distances to make it for the four day meeting. Our prayer is that God would continue to establish and use these leaders in the mountains for many years to come. Pastoral Conference Eric and Vicky are both graduates of the Bible School and have been working for the last several years in Mexico City, where Eric pastors a Baptist church in the northeast side of the metropolis. Eric brought the pastors from his association for a two day visit and pastoral conference. Teaching this conference was Danny Hernandez(left), former MITC staff member and alumni. The theme for this was “Only Scripture”, emphasizing the Bible as the only rule of faith and practice for the Christian. We are glad to see Eric’s growth and leadership that the Lord is giving him among the churches. As for Danny Hernandez, he has been on “loan” to us from Broadmoor  Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA, where he is the head of the Hispanic ministry. Danny is presently waiting on his paperwork to be approved so he can return with his family to the mission in the U.S. In the meantime, he is living here at the mission in Cordoba and helping with many special teaching projects, visiting groups and working here on the compound. Usila Also this month, Marco and Gina Barroso and Chuy and I, had the blessing of visiting the brethren in Usila(below), a town in the mountains of the state of Oaxaca, among the Chinantecos. The purpose of the trip was a weekend Bible conference for the leaders of the churches in that region. Preaching with a translator into the Chinanteco dialect and hearing choruses sung in their native tongue reminded us of the grace of God upon all nations, tribes, and tongues. We taught from Peter’s first epistle. Also during the weekend, there was a special meeting with the leaders of the area who expressed the desire to go to other villages in that mountain range where there are yet no churches. Teresa, one of our alumni from the village of Alianza attended the meetings and shared how she has started to visit a place that is a four hour hike from her own village in the mountains to share the Gospel. That is sharing with compassion. Please keep her in your prayers. Thankful for Blessings As we have shared in recent letters, the Lord has provided many opportunities here in our state of Veracruz, to help with those that lost homes and possessions due to flooding in the past months. God has moved hearts to seek to alleviate this situation and we have been able to send food, clothing, medicines, etc. to these areas. Our primary purpose is to share the love and compassion of the Lord with those in need, but the ultimate purpose is that God would use this to bring people to faith and salvation in Jesus Christ. MITC Teacher and Pastor Moises Torres(right) and members of Belen Church, have been the ones to take the supplies to areas close to Moi’s hometown. The Lord has blessed the distribution of these items and touched many hearts with His love and compassion. In the small town of Playa Maria where everything was lost in the flooding, a family has asked that services to the Lord Jesus be held in their home. Praise the Lord for His saving compassion for us! We are grateful for all the Lord is doing and how He uses each one in a special way to share His love. Thank you for your prayers, love and support, that make this possible. May His compassion be greatly manifested in our lives for His glory.
