		MITC September 2010 Newsletter http://www.mitcenter.org/   Dear James, For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:15-18 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 Looking to the things which are not seen is the key for all those in Christ and who are going through afflictions. The renewal of the inward man speaks to us that all this life is preparatory for the eternity of glory in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank You, Freddy
		Our hearts have been deeply touched by the life and death of brother "Freddy" Alfredo Pacheco. He came to the school as a hired brick mason in 1994 to help on one of the many construction projects that the Lord has given us here on the MITC campus. As he worked with the concrete, our students helping him shared with him about the "Rock" of our salvation. Through this testimony, God in His grace and mercy brought Freddy to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Soon after this, Bible studies began in his home, and his wife Irma, seeing the transformation in Freddy's life, also came to believe the Gospel. In God's generous providence to MITC, we were able to keep Freddy working on ongoing projects from 1994 until 2010. His handiwork is seen all over campus in many buildings, such as the Chapel, the Villas, The Kitchen, The Tower, etc. He was also the master builder in the church building projects at Ebenezer, La Cumbre, Loma Bonita, Cuidad Mendoza, and lately at El Pochote, where he and his wife served and attended. Freddy was specially loved by many brethren from the visiting groups who came and worked with him side by side and took great joy in serving on Freddy's "crew". Freddy went on to be with the Lord after fatal complications with diabetes, with which he struggled for many years. We are very thankful for the blessings of knowing Freddy, for his friendship, and for his faithful work here at MITC. Faith through the Storm
		As you may have heard in the news, the state of Veracruz has been severely battered by storms and lastly by Category 3 Hurricane Karl. The calculations are that 65% of the territory has been flooded in the last three weeks. There has never been a situation like this in the history of the state. We are spearheading an effort to help with those who have lost all their belongings and whose homes are destroyed. Many churches in our immediate area that have ties to MITC are gathering supplies, water, cloths and medicines to help. We have several of our alumni who are pastors in the towns under water. We hope to work with them to share food and basic supplies to those in need. Our prayer is that through the help we can give, the Lord will bring hope and love, and that others will come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as savior in the midst of this most difficult time. Please pray that the Lord would bless these efforts and would multiply the supplies and bless their distribution for His glory.
Summer Youth Camp
		During the past month, the Lord allowed us the blessing of having our Summer Youth Camp. As each year, once again the Lord blessed in a tremendous way, using the preaching of the Word of God by Brother Bill Britt. We had a "full house" in attendance. Many were impacted by the Gospel for salvation, and we were glad to see several campers enroll in the Bible School as God called them to prepare for the ministry. This camp is directed by our alumni and staff member, Jimmy Vazquez, who, working with our third year students, put together an exciting five day stay for the youth that came from all over southern Mexico. Also, each year we are blessed during the camp by the presence of the youth group from the Baptist Church of Summerville Florida, led by Pastor Danny Guiltner. These brethren are a tremendous help during the camp as they work long hours in the kitchen helping our cooks with preparation, serving and clean up. 		We thank the Lord for all the help received by our summer groups. The last one of these was led by Lamar Nelson and comprised of brethren from several churches in the Shreveport, Louisiana area. This team helped us get things back to normal after the youth camp and get ready for the start of the school year - painting dorms, putting together beds, etc. Off campus, they helped with the VBS at El Pochote working with Ana and Pastor Fernando. In Conlusion
		In August, God allowed us to visit the United States with the United Youth Choir on a one week tour to Shreveport, Louisiana. The primary purpose of the visit was to share the Gospel in song and message with the Hispanic community in this area. We were able to go and return with the group of fifty-four brethren with His blessing. There were concerts in several public venues as well as in Hispanic and non-Hispanic churches. In each place, Christ was exalted and a strong testimony was given of His Love. The youth in the group were greatly encouraged by this opportunity to sing of the Lord's grace in the United States. 		August 2010 MITC August Newsletter   Dear James, But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:11. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 To give God glory and to show forth His praises is our purpose and goal. We can do this because of the new life we have in Jesus Christ. His Spirit empowers us, his children, even though we are frail humans, to do this awesome task of shining for GOD in this present world! What a great privilege we have. God gave us many opportunities to share of Him during the weeks this summer.
Meche & Liz
		Meche and Liz are two of our young lady students that are shining in a special way. Meche is a Mixe girl that was born in a home and family with many problems and abuses because of sin and unbelief. God began to work on her circumstances when she was adopted by her uncle, Brother Victor Castanon (missionary in Magone in the Mixe region). In that home, she came to know Jesus and grew up with a desire to serve God. Overcoming serious problems with her eyesight, language barriers and a lack of formal education, she came to study here at the Bible school. She graduated and has been a missionary to the Mixe churches for the last several years. Her testimony of love for the Lord is indeed great! This past month, she married a fine Christian young man from Puebla. We had the blessing of participating in the wedding and afterward meeting several people from Magone, who have come to know the Lord as a result of her ministry in that area. As she and Samuel move to Puebla to live and work with the local church, we know she will continue to shine for the Lord. (Photo: Meche & Samuel)
		Liz is a second year student who has already made quite an impact due to her love and service for the Lord. She came to study here right after she graduated from dental school, having a strong desire to serve Christ in every way possible. Feeling the need to prepare for a ministry as a dental missionary, she has enrolled in the Bible school, coming to classes in the morning and working in her clinic in the afternoons (quite a full schedule!). God gave her the blessing of meeting Eric, from the Youth Choir in Orizaba, and they were married this past month here on campus. Liz helps with visiting dental teams and with many of the dental needs of our students and staff. We thank God for these lives that are giving Him glory. (Photo: Liz & Eric)
Spreading the Word
		God's gospel was preached and His love physically shared in twenty-five different towns by medical teams from Brookwood Baptist Church and Broadmoor Baptist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana. Each day during the two weeks with these brethren, we visited towns and villages to give medical consults, medicines, clothing, toys, and shared the Word with all those coming to the clinics. It was a special blessing to go to some areas where there were no evangelical church of believers, sharing with the people for the first time about God's salvation. In other areas, the work done by the doctors and teams reinforced the witness of the local church and missions. Heading up the team from Brookwood was the mission's Pastor Donny Lee and Dr. Jeff German. Preaching for the services during the week with the Broadmoor team was Pastor Chuck Pourcieau, and coordinating the trip for Broadmoor was Brother Larry Williams, long time friend and veteran of many mission trips to MITC. Vacation Bible School
		July is a big month for VBS (Vacation Bible School) here at MITC and our surrounding missions and churches. Our second year class goes out divided into teams to villages in the mountains in Oaxaca. We also have VBS in the churches here in the Cordoba area and a special week of teaching for children here on campus. This last VBS effort here at MITC is aimed at children from our neighborhood whose families do not attend church. Brother Arce is our VBS coordinator here at MITC, organizing all the teams that go out, and he also heads up the week of VBS here on campus. Again helping him this year, were girls from the mission team at Bible Chapel of Delhi Hills of Cincinnati, Ohio. The last day of class, there were about ninety kids and many mothers. It was a great time as children and adults learned about the virtues of our Lord and Savior. Ana Garcia started a class for the moms that brought their children. They made crafts and had Bible studies while the children were in the VBS. Heading up the group from Bible Chapel were Pastor Kevin Landis and Dan Stout. While the girls helped with VBS, the men from this group worked here on campus in several maintenance projects and at the El Pochote church project. At El Pochote, they helped place the sewage pipe in the street by the church (no sewage line was available). Working with Pastor Fernando and brethren from Pochote, they accomplished this difficult but necessary project. Hopefully, soon the much needed bathrooms will be up and running at the church. In Conlusion
		Finally, on a personal note, we share with you that our third son, William, has graduated from High School and has now entered his first semester in college in Puebla (about 2 hours away), where he has started his studies in Pre-Medicine. Keep him (and us) in your prayers at this new stage in his life. We pray that he will glorify God with his life. Thank you for your love and prayers and support for us, as we want to give God glory. 		July 2010 MITC July Newsletter   Dear James, Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 To whom God would make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. The Graduating Class of 2010
		Sharing this great Hope is our mission, our privilege and the command from our Lord to a dying, lost world. Jesus is the Only Hope, His salvation, the only way to be free from sin's penalty and power. This is what our students are learning to share. God gave us the blessing of graduating nineteen young men and women this year. They have finished the three years of daily training and the final fourth year of full-time service, also called the 'year of practice'. It has been a difficult process for most of them having to leave home and family and acquire the disciplines necessary for a missionary, teacher, or pastor. The words of Cesar, the spokesman for the graduating class, were very moving as we remembered how during his first year, his father and sister were killed in a traffic accident. We thought of how the Lord confirmed his calling even though it required Cesar to commute three hours every day so he, as the eldest son, could tend to his family's needs. Cesar was able to leave his family and complete his fourth year of full time service as the interim pastor of the church in Usila. Cesar and the other eighteen classmates marching across the stage to receive their diplomas, were a powerful reminder of God's faithfulness and the great hope we have. We also had the first eight graduates of the Saturday Seminary. These completed the program entailing four years of studies every Saturday. All of these are older and are bi-vocational brethren who want to be better prepared for helping in the church. As we see all these go forward, we are reminded that God's work will continue, unwavering, until His majestic return! Dr. Tom Harrison was a special blessing as he came with his wife Cindy and gave our graduation conferences and commencement address. La Esperanza
		God has given us The Good Hope in Christ Jesus. As He lives in and through us, we are filled with the hope of the glory of God. Now, we as His children, can share this message of hope through Christ with others. In Spanish, the word for 'the hope' is La Esperanza. This was the name printed in large blue letters across the front of the camper of a Ford pickup truck. This was not a common or ordinary truck. Inside, it was equipped to perform surgeries of all kinds. As it arrived in Mexico, Veracruz, Cordoba, Oaxaca, and especially in Niltepec, it truly represented hope for many in need. This special HOPE (LA ESPERANZA) pickup belonged to Dr. Charlie Black, Sr. from Shreveport, Louisiana. His mission was to share the hope and love of Christ to many with physical infirmities and in need of surgery. Dr. Black gave his love and services to people all over the world, but here in Mexico he left a tremendous legacy as he joined Dr. John Hall and Dr. Ben Singletary in starting the medical surgical caravans that traveled by road from Louisiana to the southernmost parts of Mexico. Touching people with caring and loving hands, brother Charlie was used to plant the seed of Hope in Christ in many hearts. After many years of traveling by vehicle, God enabled him to build a clinic in Niltepec, Oaxaca, working with a MITC sponsored physician, Dr. Santiago Santos. This clinic today bears his name, "La Clinica Charles Black", and to this day continues to offer hope through medical care to many who seek it in that part of Mexico. This past month, Dr. Charlie Black was taken to our Heavenly Home to see the hope of all believers fulfilled in all its plenitude. We thank God for allowing us to have known this brother and for his many years of service to God in Mexico and as a faithful board member of MITC. May God receive the Glory! A special thanks to Woodcreek Church
		Also this past month, we were blessed with a visit from the youth of Woodcreek Church in Richardson, Texas. This team of high school aged, mission-minded kids, took on a seven hour trip up to the mountainous region of El Cacique, among the Cuicateco Indian brethren. They too shared the hope of Christ through their efforts in concrete work and painting for the new church building, daily VBS for the children of El Cacique and in the neighboring village of Cacalotepec (a one hour walk). Led by youth pastor Mike McCullough, they worked alongside Tania (our 'year of practice' student mentioned in the May newsletter) and shared the love of Christ in a special way. Request for Prayers
		We are thankful for the Lord's blessing in obtaining the necessary visas for the United Youth Choir members as we prepare for the visit of the choir to the Shreveport area. The purpose is to minister primarily unto the Hispanic community. Please pray for the trip, as presently there are difficulties on the roads in the border area due to increased rains. Also pray that there will be a successful border crossing for all those traveling. Finally, we ask your prayers for Mrs. Vicky Ramirez, (Chuy's mother, and my mother-in-law), who fell last week, broke her femur and dislocated her hand. She is recovering from the surgery on her leg and being attended by family and friends in the Lord here at the mission. (Photo: Vicky Ramirez)

		June 2010 MITC June Newsletter Dear James, Then little chlidren were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heave belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:13,14 But when the priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant. "Do you hear what these children are saying?" they asked him. "Yes," replied Jesus, "have you never read, 'From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise?'" Matthew 21:15,16
Vacation Bible School
		God has used children to declare His truth for centuries, all the way from the days of our Lord's triumphant entry and until today. We have also seen God's blessing in an abundant way working in the hearts of children here in Mexico and it has a very special place in our Bible School and mission outreach. There are special classes in the program to teach our students to teach children and to prepare our second year students for several weeks of VBS in the mountain village churches during the summer. However, many churches also send their leaders and teachers to take the courses and prepare for the same purpose. Last year, the theme and basic materials given in the Workshop were used in over 70 churches throughout southern Mexico. (For anyone not familiar with VBS, it is a week of Bible School held in local churches during the summer. The program is designed for children using special teaching aids, visuals, games and hands on projects that really help illustrate and provide understanding for the truth of God.) Many, many homes have been opened to the Gospel by this type of teaching. Parents see the impact of the Gospel in their young ones and the love of God they receive through the teacher and helpers. Also, several churches have started through the years as a direct result of children's ministry. Each year, Linda Webb (wife of Paster Mark Webb, from Grace Bible Church) comes down with many suitcases of supplies, complete lessons developed for the week, dramas, props, etc. and all that is necessary for a seven day VBS program. Working with Chuy, they teach the second and third year students and sometimes as many as forty VBC directors from churches in the region. This year, the theme was the Holy War based on John Bunyan's allegory. We pray that the Lord will bring much fruit for His glory through this means. Alfredo Arce, who is our coordinator for the village VBS teams and also helps with many of our visiting groups' activities with children, shared this testimony: "Nancy came to the town hall to see what all the excitement was about. She got there in time to hear the last part of the Bible story and message of God's love. Next came a time of games with the kids from her town and the American youth from Cuero, TX. After that, refreshments were given out. As she saw the visitors getting ready to go, she looked for the person in charge. Finding Alfredo Arce, who took the team to the village of San Jose del Corral, she gave him a hug and said: Thank you for making this a very special day for me, today is my birthday, my 15th (where here in Mexico is very special for the girls) and my parents were not able to give me anything or have any kind of celebration. God and Brooke at the orphanage
		God has kept the "door open" at the local municipal orphanage for our students to be able to visit once a week and teach the children. Joaquin (MITC teacher) and his wife, Chely, head up this weekly ministry working with several of our students. We are allowed to take visitors from the U.S. and they also go and share God's love and teaching. In addition to the orphans, many of the children there are abandoned or have been abused, and the city has taken charge of them. Several of these children have come to believe, love and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Helping with many of these activites and working with children is Brooke Carter. Brooke is a young lady from Shreveport, LA, graduate of LSU, majored in Spanish, and has been coming to Mexico for many years with her church's (Broadmoor Baptist) ministry teams. God led Brooke to give a year of her life as an intern here at MITC. She has not only worked with many children herself and with our students and groups, but also has taught English to children and to the staff here on campus. Her life has made an impact on many people and we are thankful for the blessing she has been to all of us here in Cordoba. We pray that God will continue to use Brooke as she returns to Shreveport. Special thanks to our summer help
		We give special thanks to God for our summer groups that came in May to help us with many needed projects, both on campus and in the village churches. The combined churches (five different churches from the U.S. and Canada) led by Pastor Mark Webb, Summer Grove Baptist from Shreveport, LA led by Cecil Snider and Pastor Rod Masteller, and the First Baptist Church from Cuero, TX, led by Pastor Glenn Robertson. These teams have helped with the Kitchen Renovation project, sewing projects, painting, welding, gardening, carpentry, eletrical, plumbing, the El Pochote church project, children's Bible clubs, women's outreach, etc. (Photo: El Pochote Construction Crew)
In Conlusion
		There are many opportunities for service for all that come to visit and become part of our mission family. None of this would be possible if it were not for your God-motivated love, prayers and support, which allows us to continue serving here in Mexico. Thank you! 		May 2010 MITC May Newsletter   Dear James, "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any things as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;" 2 Corinthians 3:5 "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and do of his good pleasure." Philippians 2:13 "Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." Hebrew 13: 20,21 When God's work is accomplished in and through us, we must always praise HIM for His work. Our sufficiency is indeed from God. Only He is Able, but praise God, He DOES work in us and through us. What a privilege!
Meet Tania
		Tania is one of our fourth year students who is doing her year of practice in Cuicateco region in the mountains of Oaxaca. Her primary work is assisting the local church leader Brother Manuel Santiago, helping him with visitation, and teaching the children, youth and women in the church. This is in the village of El Cacique, where there are sixteen families in the church fellowship. God has been using Tania in her times of visitation in homes of the brethren to bring encouragement and reconciliation among the brethren, and the church is going through a special time of revival. The village of Cacalotepec is about an hour walk on a mountain trail from El Cacique. In this place several years ago, the Lord allowed students and missionaries from MITC to go and share the Gospel. Several people have come to know the Lord Jesus, but there has been a strong opposition to those believers and to those who want to share of Christ, especially during the last few years. Tania visits Cacalotepec once a week, primarily to have a children's Bible club and to encourage the few brethren of this place, most of whom are elderly. God has blessed the children's Bible club, as kids from non-believing households are attending. Tania is then able to accompany some of the kids back home and visit a little with their parents. She was on one such visit and, arriving at the household, she was greeted by the mother of one on the kids from the club, who asked Tania to come in the house. The lady was making tortillas and Tania offered to help (all the girls learn cooking while they are in here at the school). While they worked together pounding out tortillas, Tania spoke with the lady about her child and struck up a friendship. A little while later during the conversation, the woman told Tania that she had been suffering from severe shoulder pains for some time, at which Tania said she could probably benefit from a massage to help soothe the pain. She offered to do this for the woman and asked if she had any oil she could use as a rub. The lady responded that she had all kinds of oils. Tania was a little surprised with the answer and as the lady brought out many kinds of "curing oils", it suddenly dawned on Tania that she was in the home of a local healer, or witch doctor! This woman had been a very strong opponent of all who visited this place with the Gospel and now Tania un-knowingly had established a relationship to share the Gospel with her and was a blessing to her in her home. God works in ways we do not expect and could never plan on our own. Please continue to pray for Tania and the work in El Cacique and Cacalotepec. (Photo: Tania)
United Youth Choir
		This past month, once again, we had the opportunity for the United Youth Choir to sing in the Pedro Diaz theater in downtown Cordoba. The musical they presented contained a strong message about the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. The concert was open to the public, flyers were distributed in the town square, and many came in off the street to listen to the kids sing. Once again, God used these young people to touch others with God's word and love. It was a special time as many heard the truth from the Bible regarding Christ and Resurrection Sunday (Easter). The youth sang beautifully and with great enthusiasm. Our hearts were blessed. We thank God for the opportunities the choir has to sing in these public venues, for at one time, it was not possible to do this outside of a church facility. Prayer Request
		Medical work has been a central part of the outreach ministry of MITC for many years. We have had hundreds of medical and dental campaigns with the purpose of sharing the love of God. This past month one of our dear friends, Dr. Biff Cook, was recognized by the state government of Oaxaca for his many years of altruistic labors in surgical campaigns in Mexico. Biff is presently having some serious health problems that have stopped his surgical trips. We ask your prayers for Biff and his family during this most difficult time and we are thankful for his love for the work here in Mexico and his service to many using his surgical skills. In Conlusion
		We begin our summer months of co-ministry with different groups and churches. Please pray for God's direction and protection as they travel and come to serve among us.
